At Victoria Norman we use Mirage brand retractable screen doors. Mirage is the brand preferred by most builders for its good looks, sturdy construction, and reliable operation.
How it works:
A retractable screen is there when you need it, and dissapears when you don't. The screen actually rolls up into a round housing at the side of the door opening. The screen can easily and quickly unroll into position to go in and out of the doorway.
Advantages:
Conventional screens need to be opened every time you go out. With a retractable screen you only have a screen when you need a screen. Double doors would have a screen on each side of the doorway and the two screens come together in the middle. Single doors would have a single screen.
Additional advantages include unobstructed views thru french and sliding doors, not covering over beautiful entry doors, and getting bug free ventilation to rooms that have more door than window openings.

Many HOA's will not allow conventional screen doors. Retractable screens are approved by most homeowner associations.
